Ground preparation
Most rubberised surfaces need extensive and costly sub base works before they can
be laid. Not so with Tiger Mulch. In most circumstances the only preparation that is
required is to remove the existing turf to a depth of 25mm. A weed suppressing
membrane is then laid on to the bare earth. The Tiger Mulch can then be installed
straight onto this. No major excavation work is needed, no stone sub base and no
perimeter edgings are needed, resulting in huge savings in the cost of installing a
safer surface, as well as major environmental benefits by way of reduced quarrying of
aggregates and reduced transportation of materials.
Where Tiger Mulch butts up against surrounding grass the grass is allowed to grow
over its edge, locking the Tiger Mulch permanently into place. Consequently, Tiger
Mulch does not suffer from shrinkage issues so common with other rubberised
surfaces.
If your soil is slow to drain and is very ‘soft’ ground works may be needed. Perhaps
Tiger Mulch is not the correct surface to install in this location.

Safety
Tiger Mulch has been tested in accordance with BSEN1177 and is laid in accordance
with BSEN1176. It is an impact absorbing surface with the following ‘free fall’ heights:
Slip Resistance: the criss-cross matrix of shredded rubber that makes up the surface
means that Tiger Mulch is not too smooth. It therefore has excellent non-slip
properties in both wet and dry conditions.
